Hello friend, it is time for darkfic and I am so excited to see what you will write for me! If you want inspiration beyond this letter I am also ![[archiveofourown.org profile]](https://p.dreamwidth.org/b164c54b26e4/-/archiveofourown.org/favicon.ico)
kimaracretak, where I have a small but reflective-of-things-I-like set of bookmarks, and kimaracretak on 8tracks if you want #aesthetic musical inspiration.
I love all these canons for the worldbuilding and mytharcs as well as their characters and relationships, and I am easy to please as long as you stay away from my DNWs (both general and canon-specific), so don't feel like you Have to write any of my specific prompts. Don't read anything into relative lengths of sections, I am equally happy to get something for anything in this letter! Some of these prompts are reused from old letters, and if you have written them for me before, rest assured that I loved your fic, I am simply greedy and would like to see every possible take on my favourite scenarios. A lot of my prompts are very horror-slanted, but if your muse is inclined to things less murderous, feel free! That being said, I'm extremely not into plotless/conflictless fluff or 'soft' takes on these characters/canons, and would prefer you avoid them.
I love everything from short introspection bits to long plotty missionfic to sex scenes as ways to explore character/setting/worldbuilding, and I don't need a lot of romance in my ships: sex for power, manipulation, or just between friends who want to have fun is also great. General: CtL is the tabletop game of my whole entire heart and I just want to live in that world a bit more! I have a slight preference for stories set in Arcadia or the Hedge, but absolutely will not say no to Earth-set ones. Sourcebook-wise, I am most familiar with Dancers in the Dusk, Winter Masques, and Night Horrors. I especially love oneiromancy and am super weak for stories that contrast the deep sense of place/setting with changelings' very tenuous sense of self. Adhere as strictly or loosely to game mechanics as feels right for your story.
Ambrosia: Mm, characters who want to kill and eat and become theirgods Fae are always a weakness of mine, and Ambrosia is no different. I'd love to see something about her years of transformation - her trades with witches for Glamour, her heists to decorate her hollow, legends of the Gentry that she found and read, Summer Court balls that she went to. Mimicry and murder as acts of love and appreciation, Changelings that she found and ensnared, what happens when someone brings her a captured member of the Gentry. Femslash or gen equally welcome. Dove Knife-Dancer: Listen I just really love assassins, okay. All the pretty body horror and murder for Dove, please. Training new recruits (or dispatching ones who refuse the Doves' oath), or a mission to kill a True Fae, did she ever meet a changeling she was suppose to kill but couldn't?
Liz Malloy: SO that bit in Night Horrors about how "her oath, however, is not with the Lost of the Emerald Court, but with the season of Spring itself, and Spring has not had its fill of Liz Malloy yet"? That whole entire thing is my favourite sort of thing, and I want to read all the stories about it. Bargaining with eldritch nature, sending mortals and Lost back to her Keeper. Pretty body horror where she slowly becomes a tree or some other symbol of Spring. Her wiki page, for reference.
Naamah: Terrible politicking by my favourite terrible child queen! I see two main ways for this to go: Naamah has a good day, which she would probably get by making other people's days miserable (Naamah murders a mortal girl! Naamah traps a disobedient courtier in a book! Naamah goes dreamwalking and vivisects people in their nightmares! Naamah and her vampire lover plot and scheme and maybe eat someone - after all, Autumn blood allows a vampire to read the surface thoughts of others (as Auspex 4), but all thoughts of those within a fifteen-foot radius intrude upon her mind (spend a Willpower point per scene to focus on any specific thoughts).). Alternatively, Naamah could have a terrible day and emerge victorious (Naamah punishes a would-be assassin, Naamah gets lost in the Hedge for REASONS and has to bargain her way out, Naamah is forced to become a True Fae, but makes the best of it). Or backstory! Naamah backstory is also excellent, about her Keeper and her escape. Anything that leans into her Antiquarian kith is great.
Original Female Darkling: I requested a Darkling specifically because it's one of my favourite seemings, but honestly - feel free to do whatever you like with this! Pick whatever kith you like, include whichever True Fae or other changelings or hobgoblins or Kindred you want to explore, write femslash or gen as the mood strikes you, I will be thrilled. In terms of specific scenarios, I like explorations of the Hedge, interactions between Changelings and their Fetches, dreamsharing/dreamwalking, and stories about the formation of Motleys. I tend to play ambiguously-willingly-self-destructing-into-True-Fae high-Wyrd/low-Clarity changelings, but am here for whichever combination of Wyrd/Clarity you want to write. Not to be the most predicatable but body horror super super encouraged. If you write shipfic, I would like it to be f/f, but you can pair the changeling with another changeling or a True Fae and make it as healthy or as unhealty/dubcon-y as you like (background m/m or m/f, eg between other members of the Changeling's motley, is totally fine, I just want whatever relationship the fic is About to be f/f).
General: Overall I liked series 1 a lot more than series 2, so I have a slight preference for fics set in that time period.
Fay & Rachel & Phoebe & Louise: Fay survives the hospital roof, somehow. What does she promise Rachel? Is anything actually better? Alternatively, Fay haunts the other girls, and Phoebe and Louise confront Rachel about what she did. Feel free to include any ships between the four of them, or any other femslash (e.g. Rachel/Holly).
Georgia/Holly: I'd love to see them pre-canon, becoming friends and dealing with the (more literal this time) ghost of the girl Holly killed. Or AUs of s2 where they stay in Edinburgh together and try - or don't try - to cope with what happened to them. Georgia suffering at Solasta and thinking it's worth it for Holly.
Jude/Holly: I would love something that picks up on Holly's 'I don't lose control, ever' - how much more might she tell Jude? How might Jude take advantage of that? Alll the fucked up mentorship and being-bad-at-affection please!
Rachel/Holly: Okay the bit of s2 that I hold extremely close to my heart is i'm home / which home? / ours. and, look, give the murder girlfriends their murder house by the sea somehow, they deserve it!
General: Codependent teenage best friends AND not-not sexual obsession with #unavailable older women in positions of authority, I am immensely catered to. Also it's basically Lana Del Rey - She's not Me.mp3 and The Amazing Devil - Battle Cries.mp3 in f/f canon form, so what's not to love? I'd love something that leans into the fever-dream horror of consumption of it all. All the obsession, all the clinical-sensual interest in what bodies can do, all the levels of genuinely caring (or genuinely hateful!) mentorship that ultimately can't do anything but fail. I love ladies and noir and glitter and murder, you can't disappoint me! I'd love something that picks up on the dark inherent in the book and magnifies it, including making my requested faves the cause of the horror (e.g. Addy/Beth on a serial killing spree). I also have some horror-specific prompts for the book in my Multifandom Horror letter, feel free to use anything in there as your prompt!
Note: I've read and loved the book, and if you want to use any elements of book canon instead of show canon (especially including things like Beth's suicide attempt/jump from the pyramid that the show hasn't gotten to yet), feel free!
Beth/Addy: So ... Beth watching Addy drift away from her and self-destructing so she can blame everything that goes wrong on her own actions and not on how she loves Addy is the best sort of angst, and adding sex into the mix for extra angst? Yes good please. I like the contrast between how in tune with their bodies they are and how not in tune with their emotions they are, so something that plays with that - kinking on pain/using it to bring each other pleasure while also being, like, in wildly different books re: their emotional states. Or make them vampires. You can't tell me you don't love the idea of cheerleading vampires. That whole strength/eternal youth thing combined with their competitiveness? Gimme, especially if the 'should we become vampires/join the Masquerade' conflict is piled on top of their existing issues. Or happy futurefic! I would not say no to college/adult-age Addy & Beth just having a nice day for once, appreciating each other's bodies as they change & grow.
Colette/Addy: So all of Addy's fantasising about living with Colette and parenting her daughter? I would be super intrigued by futurefic where they end up finding their way back to each other and trying to make a life together work after everything that's happened (I don't know that it would necessarily work, but I wanna see how they'd try!) Canon-era AUs where they're actually sleeping together would also be interesting - stolen 'practises', AUs where one of them kills Will.
General: Gemini is a quiet, neon-soaked neo-noir movie about an actress, her personal assistant, and her murder. It's also about mirrors, and long motorcycle rides through a very empty Southern California, and how nothing in that first sentence is really true. It's streaming on Hulu and it's REALLY GOOD and you should watch it kthx. Prompts contain movie-destroying spoilers.

Heather & or / Jill: Any level of shippy, including unrequited Jill -> Heather is excellent. I prefer pre- or post-canon fic for them.
Heather/Sierra: Stalking! I would love to see something that plays with their visual similarities, especially in a haunted house scenario.
Heather/Tracy: Murder girlfriends on a murder road trip! Sierra may have been an accident, but I would love to see what would happen if Heather got a taste for it and went after other people who had wronged and/or irritated her. Canon divergence where Tracy succeeds in drugging Jill at her house and bringing her up to the cabin - they can genuinely have Jill's best interests at heart or not, as you like.
Jamie/Jill: I love the weird imbalanced dislike here - Jill's near-hatred of Jamie balanced against Jamie's bland acceptance of Jill because she likes Heather enough - and how that might play out in the future, especially if Heather continues killing people. Jill using Jamie as a Heather-replacement also encouraged!
General: I love this gorgeous dark dreamy murder show and I love all the ladies. I haven't seen s3 as of writing prompts, but I'll be caught up by reveals, so if you have a s3 idea that you want to run with, please do! I have a lot of fondness for Abigail/Freddie, so if you go plotty & can fit that in as a background ship, go for it!
Note: Character death DNW waived for casefic OFCs and all canon characters except Alana, Bedelia, Freddie, and Beverly.
Alana/Bedelia: Roleswap! I am 1000% here for all Ripper!Bedelia/FBI!Alana or Ripper!Alana/FBI!Bedelia AUs, whether they start out on those roles or one of them manipulates the other into killing. Any kind of therapy session between the two, in one of those AUs or in canon. One of them seducing the other away from Hannibal.
General: This show has a thesis of 'why be a girl when you could be an eldritch horror instead' because it loves me. I love the bonds and the backstabbing and the love-through-horror, I love the changeling girls and the amount of respect it gives stories of self-creation. I love the contrast between the suffocating boarding-school atmosphere and the equally terrifying 'I would like to let the sky eat me' of the Rock and how that's reflected in the characters' emotional relationships. Permadeath of any of the requested characters is fine for this fandom, as is ambiguous/show-consistent explanations of what happened at the Rock. The show does so much excellent work with forests that probably want to eat you/nature which tries to eat you/nature which wants to crawl inside you and never come out and I want to see infinitely more of it!
Irma Leopold: Irma fascinates me - she's got a studied sort of apathy that she trusts to bury her regrets with, and it never works quite as well as she wants it to. Something with Hester would be great - They're both so prickly and so proud and so concerned with appearances while being very aware of things others cannot see, and I'd love something that digs into that sort of performance/pretending-you're-fine. Futurefic with Dianne - how do they cope over the next five, ten, fifteen years, seeking each other out, the last connections to so many lost friends, so many hauntings and regrets. Or just Irma, throughout the years - trying to die and coming back worse every time. Cosmic horror! Stories where she manages to go beyond the rock but Marion and Miranda are already dead because time moves differently there, so she tries to bring them back.
Greta/Marion: Secret relationship and mentorship problems, everything I love. Greta's so ambiguosly lost at the end, even more so than Marion and Miranda - does she ever find her way past the rock and into Marion's new world? What does that look like? Firsts - first meetings, first kisses, first times with various sex acts, first time a parent looks at those two teachers and wonders. Marion becoming a teacher at the Academy, either the mid-canon one or post-canon if Hester succeeded in building a new one, and what that might look like when Miranda and/or Irma are still lost, or perhaps she came back instead of Irma. Time loops where they try over and over to pass beyond the Rock together. One turning the other into a vampire. Sith AUs where they are going to find a way for Marion to be a Sith Lord that doesn't involve killing Greta ... right? (Or not, angsty betrayal also A++). One believing the other is dead, and attempting necromancy, especially if it involves sacrificing someone else.
Hester/Dianne: Hatesex and emotionally manipulative sensuality, yesss. There's an odd undercurrent of 'why aren't you better' that they both have towards each other (and themselves) and I'd love a story that lives in the lovely-awful tangled knots they tie each other into, and the ways in which they can't quite bring themselves to wish they were more like the other. I'd love to see an AU where Dianne accompanies Hester to the Rock or one where Hester and Dianne moved and built a new school out of the ruins of the first Academy. Any sort of post-canon fic where Hester haunts Dianne in her new position. Hester and Dianne as Dark and Light-aligned Sith (respectively?) disagree over the running of their school, Hester and Dianne as fellow (rival?) Gentry. Hester helps Dianne adjust to the Australian Masquerade, and how it differs from the one in France. Any kind of dreamsharing, any AU where it's more explicit that Dianne manipulated Hester into going to the Rock and jumping. Time loops of any sort
Hester/Miranda: I love how Miranda spends the whole series deconstructing Hester so deftly no one's quite sure what she's done til the very end. Maybe Hester sees Miranda at the Rock, maybe Miranda taunts her about Sara, maybe one of Hester's attempts to dress her up nicely backfires somehow. An extension of the punishment scene, especially one including Hester bandaging her hands afterwards instead of Irma and Marion, and the glorious emotional whiplash that could provoke. Miranda's space pirate crew blackmailing Hester's, Hester turning Miranda in a vampire AU.
Miranda/Marion: What do they find beyond the rock? I'm especially thinking about the folk horror tag here, of an entire too good to be true world, especially if it ends up driving a wedge between them. Time loops where they keep coming close to freedom but never achieve it - can't, maybe, achieve it because they don't have Irma with them?
General: This is not so much a Shirley Jackson biopic as it is a movie about a Shirley Jackson novel about Shirley Jackson's life. It's on Hulu and I HIGHLY recommend it, because 'two women the world is entirely unprepared for kneeling next to each other in the forest playing sensual mind games over dubiously poisonous mushrooms' is Extremely Made For Me Shit, and I suspect it might be a draw for some of you as well. Everyone is some shade of awful. At least one person is dead (the movie is about the time Shirley was writing Hangsaman). There's a scene on a porch swing that's just A Whole Lot. Please watch this movie and scream with me about it!
Note: Referenced/background Shirley/Stanley fine & encouraged. References to Rose's canon pregnancy fine, but I DNW focus on the pregnancy or sex with heavily pregnant Rose, if you go for smut.
Rose & or / Shirley: I'm requesting both because I truly don't care - the movie hit a delightfully ambiguous note and anything in that space is really excellent too. One of the things I keep returning to re: the film is that it's ... really uninterested in not even answering but even just asking the question of whether Shirley or Stanley was involved in Paula's disappearance. So ... *gestures at the murder tag* explore that! What does asking the question look like from Rose's perspective, how do her information-gathering errands look different if she or Shirley are wondering about that? There's a lot of focus on what happens to all lost girls? they go mad., and I'd really love anything that explores going mad as a process, and a purposeful one: hallucinogens, dreams, how to construct a reality just for two.
General: I have a deep love for half-dead half-forest women and this show has truly left me spoiled for choice amongst them! Sad cops? Tired medical examiners? Girls with disturbing archery skills? Old bartenders possibly as old as time itself? I love them all! Gimme creepy things in the forest and I'm in love. I have a slight preference for came-back-wrong/never died Marion & Camille over pre-death/dead Marion & Camille, but it's truly slight, I will love anything you write me even if they stay dead! I am happy with / or & relationships for any of the groups.
Camille Laugier: So much guilt and so many missed opportunities! Something with Cora, where Cora doesn't find Marion's USB key in the marsh, and Camille tries to comfort her while knowing exactly what she did to her mother? Camille comes back and tries to apologise (comes back over and over again until her apologies are accepted not only by the people but by Villefranche itself?)
Leila Barami: Leila is under-loved and I would like something where she gets to be the centre of everything! What was her All-Nighter like? How did she readjust to Villefranche after medical school? Any kind of supernatural-medical body horror story.
Laurène Weiss: See above re: always weak for half-forest half-dead women. I want anything - I would honestly be happy with just 500 words of lovingly described scenery porn as she wanders through the forest looking for Sylvaine! Dreams about being dead. TIME LOOPS - the forest revives her so many times, I would love a Laurène-centric time loop, especially if she needs to die or kill someone to reset it. Post-canon shipped with Leila. Canon divergence where she gives up on Bertrand a lot earlier, even/especially if she (accidentally?) kills him. Any sort of plant-based body horror as she transforms into the forest.
Marion Steiner: Marion is so present through season 1 for a dead girl, and I want even more of her! Ghost!Marion is excellent.
Sabine Hennequin: Sabiiiine she's the soul of Villefranche and one of my first loves in the show. I would love pre-canon fic for her, how she came and why she stayed. Fic where she's some kind of weird immortal is awesome - whether it's because she's some type of creature or because the forest gave immortality to her as a gift. I love her friendship with Anna, maybe something about how she took Anna in in the early days (or maybe Anna wasn't the first woman she helped like that, if you lean into the old/immortal aspect of her). The story of Sabine's all-nighter! Or anything leaning into the small-town politics of Villefranche. Fic with Camille, where Sabine figures out what's happening and tries to help her, whether she fails or suceeds. Anything about the questionably-willing mentorship she's developed with Laurène - I like the idea of Sabine as someone else who is loved by the forest, and maybe has a deeper understanding of it than Laurène, but not really great at communicating it. Just. Witchy things!

I have a slight preference for stories set in Arcadia or the Hedge, but absolutely will not say no to Earth-set ones. Sourcebook-wise, I am most familiar with Dancers in the Dusk, Winter Masques, and Night Horrors. I especially love oneiromancy and am super weak for stories that contrast the deep sense of place/setting with changelings' very tenuous sense of self. Adhere as strictly or loosely to game mechanics as feels right for your story.
Ambrosia: Mm, characters who want to kill and eat and become their
Dove Knife-Dancer: Listen I just really love assassins, okay. All the pretty body horror and murder for Dove, please. Training new recruits (or dispatching ones who refuse the Doves' oath), or a mission to kill a True Fae, did she ever meet a changeling she was suppose to kill but couldn't?
Liz Malloy: SO that bit in Night Horrors about how "her oath, however, is not with the Lost of the Emerald Court, but with the season of Spring itself, and Spring has not had its fill of Liz Malloy yet"? That whole entire thing is my favourite sort of thing, and I want to read all the stories about it. Bargaining with eldritch nature, sending mortals and Lost back to her Keeper. Pretty body horror where she slowly becomes a tree or some other symbol of Spring. Her wiki page, for reference.
Naamah: Terrible politicking by my favourite terrible child queen! I see two main ways for this to go: Naamah has a good day, which she would probably get by making other people's days miserable (Naamah murders a mortal girl! Naamah traps a disobedient courtier in a book! Naamah goes dreamwalking and vivisects people in their nightmares! Naamah and her vampire lover plot and scheme and maybe eat someone - after all, Autumn blood allows a vampire to read the surface thoughts of others (as Auspex 4), but all thoughts of those within a fifteen-foot radius intrude upon her mind (spend a Willpower point per scene to focus on any specific thoughts).). Alternatively, Naamah could have a terrible day and emerge victorious (Naamah punishes a would-be assassin, Naamah gets lost in the Hedge for REASONS and has to bargain her way out, Naamah is forced to become a True Fae, but makes the best of it). Or backstory! Naamah backstory is also excellent, about her Keeper and her escape. Anything that leans into her Antiquarian kith is great.
Original Female Darkling: I requested a Darkling specifically because it's one of my favourite seemings, but honestly - feel free to do whatever you like with this! Pick whatever kith you like, include whichever True Fae or other changelings or hobgoblins or Kindred you want to explore, write femslash or gen as the mood strikes you, I will be thrilled. In terms of specific scenarios, I like explorations of the Hedge, interactions between Changelings and their Fetches, dreamsharing/dreamwalking, and stories about the formation of Motleys. I tend to play ambiguously-willingly-self-destructing-into-True-Fae high-Wyrd/low-Clarity changelings, but am here for whichever combination of Wyrd/Clarity you want to write. Not to be the most predicatable but body horror super super encouraged. If you write shipfic, I would like it to be f/f, but you can pair the changeling with another changeling or a True Fae and make it as healthy or as unhealty/dubcon-y as you like (background m/m or m/f, eg between other members of the Changeling's motley, is totally fine, I just want whatever relationship the fic is About to be f/f).

Fay & Rachel & Phoebe & Louise: Fay survives the hospital roof, somehow. What does she promise Rachel? Is anything actually better? Alternatively, Fay haunts the other girls, and Phoebe and Louise confront Rachel about what she did. Feel free to include any ships between the four of them, or any other femslash (e.g. Rachel/Holly).
Georgia/Holly: I'd love to see them pre-canon, becoming friends and dealing with the (more literal this time) ghost of the girl Holly killed. Or AUs of s2 where they stay in Edinburgh together and try - or don't try - to cope with what happened to them. Georgia suffering at Solasta and thinking it's worth it for Holly.
Jude/Holly: I would love something that picks up on Holly's 'I don't lose control, ever' - how much more might she tell Jude? How might Jude take advantage of that? Alll the fucked up mentorship and being-bad-at-affection please!
Rachel/Holly: Okay the bit of s2 that I hold extremely close to my heart is i'm home / which home? / ours. and, look, give the murder girlfriends their murder house by the sea somehow, they deserve it!

General: Codependent teenage best friends AND not-not sexual obsession with #unavailable older women in positions of authority, I am immensely catered to. Also it's basically Lana Del Rey - She's not Me.mp3 and The Amazing Devil - Battle Cries.mp3 in f/f canon form, so what's not to love? I'd love something that leans into the fever-dream horror of consumption of it all. All the obsession, all the clinical-sensual interest in what bodies can do, all the levels of genuinely caring (or genuinely hateful!) mentorship that ultimately can't do anything but fail. I love ladies and noir and glitter and murder, you can't disappoint me! I'd love something that picks up on the dark inherent in the book and magnifies it, including making my requested faves the cause of the horror (e.g. Addy/Beth on a serial killing spree). I also have some horror-specific prompts for the book in my Multifandom Horror letter, feel free to use anything in there as your prompt!
Note: I've read and loved the book, and if you want to use any elements of book canon instead of show canon (especially including things like Beth's suicide attempt/jump from the pyramid that the show hasn't gotten to yet), feel free!
Beth/Addy: So ... Beth watching Addy drift away from her and self-destructing so she can blame everything that goes wrong on her own actions and not on how she loves Addy is the best sort of angst, and adding sex into the mix for extra angst? Yes good please. I like the contrast between how in tune with their bodies they are and how not in tune with their emotions they are, so something that plays with that - kinking on pain/using it to bring each other pleasure while also being, like, in wildly different books re: their emotional states. Or make them vampires. You can't tell me you don't love the idea of cheerleading vampires. That whole strength/eternal youth thing combined with their competitiveness? Gimme, especially if the 'should we become vampires/join the Masquerade' conflict is piled on top of their existing issues. Or happy futurefic! I would not say no to college/adult-age Addy & Beth just having a nice day for once, appreciating each other's bodies as they change & grow.
Colette/Addy: So all of Addy's fantasising about living with Colette and parenting her daughter? I would be super intrigued by futurefic where they end up finding their way back to each other and trying to make a life together work after everything that's happened (I don't know that it would necessarily work, but I wanna see how they'd try!) Canon-era AUs where they're actually sleeping together would also be interesting - stolen 'practises', AUs where one of them kills Will.

General: Gemini is a quiet, neon-soaked neo-noir movie about an actress, her personal assistant, and her murder. It's also about mirrors, and long motorcycle rides through a very empty Southern California, and how nothing in that first sentence is really true. It's streaming on Hulu and it's REALLY GOOD and you should watch it kthx. Prompts contain movie-destroying spoilers.

Heather & or / Jill: Any level of shippy, including unrequited Jill -> Heather is excellent. I prefer pre- or post-canon fic for them.
Heather/Sierra: Stalking! I would love to see something that plays with their visual similarities, especially in a haunted house scenario.
Heather/Tracy: Murder girlfriends on a murder road trip! Sierra may have been an accident, but I would love to see what would happen if Heather got a taste for it and went after other people who had wronged and/or irritated her. Canon divergence where Tracy succeeds in drugging Jill at her house and bringing her up to the cabin - they can genuinely have Jill's best interests at heart or not, as you like.
Jamie/Jill: I love the weird imbalanced dislike here - Jill's near-hatred of Jamie balanced against Jamie's bland acceptance of Jill because she likes Heather enough - and how that might play out in the future, especially if Heather continues killing people. Jill using Jamie as a Heather-replacement also encouraged!

General: This show has a thesis of 'why be a girl when you could be an eldritch horror instead' because it loves me. I love the bonds and the backstabbing and the love-through-horror, I love the changeling girls and the amount of respect it gives stories of self-creation. I love the contrast between the suffocating boarding-school atmosphere and the equally terrifying 'I would like to let the sky eat me' of the Rock and how that's reflected in the characters' emotional relationships. Permadeath of any of the requested characters is fine for this fandom, as is ambiguous/show-consistent explanations of what happened at the Rock. The show does so much excellent work with forests that probably want to eat you/nature which tries to eat you/nature which wants to crawl inside you and never come out and I want to see infinitely more of it!
Irma Leopold: Irma fascinates me - she's got a studied sort of apathy that she trusts to bury her regrets with, and it never works quite as well as she wants it to. Something with Hester would be great - They're both so prickly and so proud and so concerned with appearances while being very aware of things others cannot see, and I'd love something that digs into that sort of performance/pretending-you're-fine. Futurefic with Dianne - how do they cope over the next five, ten, fifteen years, seeking each other out, the last connections to so many lost friends, so many hauntings and regrets. Or just Irma, throughout the years - trying to die and coming back worse every time. Cosmic horror! Stories where she manages to go beyond the rock but Marion and Miranda are already dead because time moves differently there, so she tries to bring them back.
Greta/Marion: Secret relationship and mentorship problems, everything I love. Greta's so ambiguosly lost at the end, even more so than Marion and Miranda - does she ever find her way past the rock and into Marion's new world? What does that look like? Firsts - first meetings, first kisses, first times with various sex acts, first time a parent looks at those two teachers and wonders. Marion becoming a teacher at the Academy, either the mid-canon one or post-canon if Hester succeeded in building a new one, and what that might look like when Miranda and/or Irma are still lost, or perhaps she came back instead of Irma. Time loops where they try over and over to pass beyond the Rock together. One turning the other into a vampire. Sith AUs where they are going to find a way for Marion to be a Sith Lord that doesn't involve killing Greta ... right? (Or not, angsty betrayal also A++). One believing the other is dead, and attempting necromancy, especially if it involves sacrificing someone else.
Hester/Dianne: Hatesex and emotionally manipulative sensuality, yesss. There's an odd undercurrent of 'why aren't you better' that they both have towards each other (and themselves) and I'd love a story that lives in the lovely-awful tangled knots they tie each other into, and the ways in which they can't quite bring themselves to wish they were more like the other. I'd love to see an AU where Dianne accompanies Hester to the Rock or one where Hester and Dianne moved and built a new school out of the ruins of the first Academy. Any sort of post-canon fic where Hester haunts Dianne in her new position. Hester and Dianne as Dark and Light-aligned Sith (respectively?) disagree over the running of their school, Hester and Dianne as fellow (rival?) Gentry. Hester helps Dianne adjust to the Australian Masquerade, and how it differs from the one in France. Any kind of dreamsharing, any AU where it's more explicit that Dianne manipulated Hester into going to the Rock and jumping. Time loops of any sort
Hester/Miranda: I love how Miranda spends the whole series deconstructing Hester so deftly no one's quite sure what she's done til the very end. Maybe Hester sees Miranda at the Rock, maybe Miranda taunts her about Sara, maybe one of Hester's attempts to dress her up nicely backfires somehow. An extension of the punishment scene, especially one including Hester bandaging her hands afterwards instead of Irma and Marion, and the glorious emotional whiplash that could provoke. Miranda's space pirate crew blackmailing Hester's, Hester turning Miranda in a vampire AU.
Miranda/Marion: What do they find beyond the rock? I'm especially thinking about the folk horror tag here, of an entire too good to be true world, especially if it ends up driving a wedge between them. Time loops where they keep coming close to freedom but never achieve it - can't, maybe, achieve it because they don't have Irma with them?

General: This is not so much a Shirley Jackson biopic as it is a movie about a Shirley Jackson novel about Shirley Jackson's life. It's on Hulu and I HIGHLY recommend it, because 'two women the world is entirely unprepared for kneeling next to each other in the forest playing sensual mind games over dubiously poisonous mushrooms' is Extremely Made For Me Shit, and I suspect it might be a draw for some of you as well. Everyone is some shade of awful. At least one person is dead (the movie is about the time Shirley was writing Hangsaman). There's a scene on a porch swing that's just A Whole Lot. Please watch this movie and scream with me about it!

Rose & or / Shirley: I'm requesting both because I truly don't care - the movie hit a delightfully ambiguous note and anything in that space is really excellent too. One of the things I keep returning to re: the film is that it's ... really uninterested in not even answering but even just asking the question of whether Shirley or Stanley was involved in Paula's disappearance. So ... *gestures at the murder tag* explore that! What does asking the question look like from Rose's perspective, how do her information-gathering errands look different if she or Shirley are wondering about that? There's a lot of focus on what happens to all lost girls? they go mad., and I'd really love anything that explores going mad as a process, and a purposeful one: hallucinogens, dreams, how to construct a reality just for two.

General: I have a deep love for half-dead half-forest women and this show has truly left me spoiled for choice amongst them! Sad cops? Tired medical examiners? Girls with disturbing archery skills? Old bartenders possibly as old as time itself? I love them all! Gimme creepy things in the forest and I'm in love. I have a slight preference for came-back-wrong/never died Marion & Camille over pre-death/dead Marion & Camille, but it's truly slight, I will love anything you write me even if they stay dead! I am happy with / or & relationships for any of the groups.
Camille Laugier: So much guilt and so many missed opportunities! Something with Cora, where Cora doesn't find Marion's USB key in the marsh, and Camille tries to comfort her while knowing exactly what she did to her mother? Camille comes back and tries to apologise (comes back over and over again until her apologies are accepted not only by the people but by Villefranche itself?)
Leila Barami: Leila is under-loved and I would like something where she gets to be the centre of everything! What was her All-Nighter like? How did she readjust to Villefranche after medical school? Any kind of supernatural-medical body horror story.
Laurène Weiss: See above re: always weak for half-forest half-dead women. I want anything - I would honestly be happy with just 500 words of lovingly described scenery porn as she wanders through the forest looking for Sylvaine! Dreams about being dead. TIME LOOPS - the forest revives her so many times, I would love a Laurène-centric time loop, especially if she needs to die or kill someone to reset it. Post-canon shipped with Leila. Canon divergence where she gives up on Bertrand a lot earlier, even/especially if she (accidentally?) kills him. Any sort of plant-based body horror as she transforms into the forest.
Marion Steiner: Marion is so present through season 1 for a dead girl, and I want even more of her! Ghost!Marion is excellent.
Sabine Hennequin: Sabiiiine she's the soul of Villefranche and one of my first loves in the show. I would love pre-canon fic for her, how she came and why she stayed. Fic where she's some kind of weird immortal is awesome - whether it's because she's some type of creature or because the forest gave immortality to her as a gift. I love her friendship with Anna, maybe something about how she took Anna in in the early days (or maybe Anna wasn't the first woman she helped like that, if you lean into the old/immortal aspect of her). The story of Sabine's all-nighter! Or anything leaning into the small-town politics of Villefranche. Fic with Camille, where Sabine figures out what's happening and tries to help her, whether she fails or suceeds. Anything about the questionably-willing mentorship she's developed with Laurène - I like the idea of Sabine as someone else who is loved by the forest, and maybe has a deeper understanding of it than Laurène, but not really great at communicating it. Just. Witchy things!
