multifandomhorror 2021
Hello friend, it is time for horror and maybe femslash, and I am so excited to see what you will write for me! If you want inspiration beyond this letter I am also
kimaracretak, where I have a small but reflective-of-things-I-like set of bookmarks, and kimaracretak on 8tracks if you want #aesthetic musical inspiration. I've done my letter a bit differently this time, prompting by horror types rather than by ship or character, but I've gone on about my love for those in previous letters.
I love all these canons for the worldbuilding and mytharcs as well as their characters and relationships, and I am easy to please as long as you stay away from my DNWs (both general and canon-specific), so don't feel like you Have to write any of my specific prompts. Don't read anything into relative lengths of sections, I am equally happy to get something for anything in this letter! Some of these prompts are reused from old letters, and if you have written them for me before, rest assured that I loved your fic, I am simply greedy and would like to see every possible take on my favourite scenarios.
I love everything from short introspection bits to long plotty missionfic to sex scenes as ways to explore character/setting/worldbuilding, and I don't need a lot of romance in my ships: sex for power, manipulation, or just between friends who want to have fun is also great. Please no unrequested ships unless specifically allowed for, but feel free to combine any compatible ones from my requested ones.

General: Codependent teenage best friends AND not-not sexual obsession with #unavailable older women in positions of authority, I am immensely catered to. Also it's basically Lana Del Rey - She's not Me.mp3 and The Amazing Devil - Battle Cries.mp3 in f/f canon form, so what's not to love? I'd love something that leans into the fever-dream horror of consumption of it all. All the obsession, all the clinical-sensual interest in what bodies can do, all the levels of genuinely caring (or genuinely hateful!) mentorship that ultimately can't do anything but fail. I love ladies and noir and glitter and murder, you can't disappoint me! For this request, I'd love something that picks up on the dark inherent in the book and magnifies it, especially including making my requested faves the cause of the horror (e.g. Addy/Beth on a serial killing spree).
Fandom-specific DNW: Bad end (permanent mindbreak, imprisonment, or death) for the requested characters. Anyone else, including the rest of the squad, is fair game.
Medium: Fic emphasising sexual content, fic not emphasising sexual content.
Requested Ships/Characters:
Body Horror: There's a lot of body horror inherent to cheerleading, in the book, from the eating disorders to the injuries to the constant threat of falling during a stunt and snapping your neck. So something that leans into that - the transformation and the pain of transformation, manipulating each other's broken bones to turn them into something Else. I also enjoy that this is a type of horror that works well with other requested types - kille horror that leans into guro, paranormal (vampire) horror that lingers over descriptions of turning/feeding, gothic horror with girls who pass into/out of ghostliness in ways that shouldn't be possible.
Cosmic Horror: The girls discover something awful when stargazing at Lanvers. Colette comes to Sutton Grove and finds it's basically a cheerleader-led cult and has to decide whether to join them or destroy them (or maybe Beth or Addy makes that choice for her).
Folk Horror: Sure, the dying industrial town isn't quite as isolated as some of the traditional folk horror settings — but there's no reason you can't isolate them even further in fic! Or lean into the girls as the isolated community (cheerleading squad as agent of horror!), set apart from everyone else in town. Psychogeography and Sutton Grove: something about the contrast between the industrial ruins and places like Lanvers and the gorge. Something about cheerleading legends/folklore — a girl, maybe the Flyer having to be sacrificed to ensure success at States? The Sutton Grove town leaders want Colette to save the town via taking the squad to championships, but the girls have darker plans for how to use Colette. A straightforward Blood on Satan's Claw AU would delight me.
Killer Horror: Serial killer AUs!! Beth and Addy as killers being mentored by Colette, Beth murdering her way through the Marines, the girls finding out about Colette's past as a killer, Addy or Colette turning on the squad.
Paranormal Horror: GHOSTS! Beth dies after her jump from the pyramid and haunts Addy and/or Colette. The ghost of a dead cheerleader possess someone on the squad. Something about the St Reggie's girl who killed herself in the woods. Colette as a supernatural creature - I'm fond of vampires, but go wild! - especially if she's feeding on the girls/their energy in some way. Spin out the decaying industrial town setting and send the characters to explore a haunted/abandoned place in Sutton Grove.
Psychological Horror: Anything magnifying the fucked-up Beth-Addy-Colette relationships, all the manipulation and possessiveness leading to a point where they're not sure what the world outside each other looks like. Something about Beth's vaguely-prophetic dreams - does she slip further and further into them until she doubts what reality is? Changeling: The Lost was #formational for me in terms of psychological horror, so I'm thinking about a C:TL AU (Colette as a member of the Gentry and the squad as changelings she collects?), but then again, I'm always thinking about C:TL AUs, so.
Violent Horror: Love is a kind of killing and cheerleading is a type of violence! Take all the body horror stuff I loved above to the extreme - the girls literally picking each other apart to see how they work, maybe killing Emily after she breaks her leg? Or combine with killer horror, Will and Kurtz and the rest of the Marines being tortured/killed by the girls (and then they have sex in the blood of their enemies :D).
General: The video is on youtube here, and the lyrics are here. Slight preference for female characters. Any kind of bad end welcome for this request.
Medium: Art not emphasising sexual content, fic not emphasising sexual content.
Requested Ships/Characters:
Body Horror: The lyrics make me think broken or twisted necks or dismemberment, but something about the horror of bodies after death, or bodies warped by endless dance, or bodies being eaten...
Cosmic Horror: I want to know more about 'the back room where I saw the dead'! Creepy reality-warping pocket dimension? Will the dead ever crawl out? What other incomprehensible horrors are there along with the dead?
Dark Fantasy: The dead were 'dancing like children' and there's a long history of fairies making their victims dance to death and there's the carnival-esque instrumental interlude (3:04 - 4:27) soo let your creepy circus/fairy dance dreams run wild! (Optional extra thematice Vibes: Mechanique: A Tale of the Circus Tresaulti is my favourite dark carnival book).
Folk Horror: This fits folk horror plots so well - strangers laughing at the outsider, old men leading the singer astray - so any type of 'narrator and their darling come to small town, see much more than they wanted' situation.
Gothic Horror: vAMPIRES, especially with the 'good deed in exchange for a sin' lyric - saving a vampire in return for being turned into one themself?
Killer Horror: How did the dead get dead? Is it the narrator, the person they're singing to, someone else entirely? Chases through vast landscapes are great, or even chases through 'the back room', whatever form that takes. 5 people killed + 1 who got away. Any type of mentor/protege stuff involving training someone to kill.
Paranormal Horror: Many dead could easily mean many ghosts - how are they coping with their afterlife?
Psychological Horror: The narrator spends all song trying to get someone to come see the dead with them - what other levels of fucked-up manipulation/encouragement are there in that relationship? Anything about the dead showing up in dreams first, before slipping into reality - and, perhaps, being less and less confined to the back room.
Violent Horror: Art of bodies, or, given you take the torso and I'll take the head, art of people eating bodies. Cannibalism in general - not to get repetitive, but let them chomp!
General: I am several years late BUT I love this terrible demon lady who just wants to be (re)written into existence so she can do terrible things. This is extremely fun pretty horror told non-linearly and partially-fictionally. I love almost all of it, ending excepted, and I want more! I'm happy with unhappy/not-together-by-the-end/one-sided/closer-to-& takes on any of these ships, and my character death DNW is waived for everyone except Marianne.
Note: I'm fine with references to canon noncon, but if you end up writing about the end, I would like a canon divergence so Emma doesn't end up pregnant.
Medium: Art not emphasising sexual content, fic not emphasising sexual content, fic emphasising sexual content.
Requested Ships/Characters:
Body Horror: So by the end of the show when Marianne's manifesting as a used-to-be-normal face atop that tattered dress of a smoke cloud? I'm obsessed with it. More art of Marianne like that, anything that leans into her missing eyes - especially if she's trying to pluck out [Emma/Aurore/Caro/Camille]'s eyes. Broken bones, extra-long fingers, wound fingering ... this is a very good body horror canon, okay, I just want mooooore.
Folk Horror: Elden comes with its own folklore/songs about Marianne! How could I not ask for folk horror? Also, I do not think the show leaned nearly as much as it could have into Camille's outsider status - what if Marianne, or something about the town, explicitly chooses her for terrible things earlier than in canon. Other cults to Marianne or people who have tried to summon her over the years? Dead? / So much more than. lives rent-free in my head and if Emma had made it to Marianne's city by the sea I think she would have had a very folk horror welcome.
Gothic Horror: Mmm big forbidding crumbling mansions by the sea, complete with ghosts of Marianne's - whether in Elden or in the city by the sea. Or both! A big creepy house that slips between the two realities....
Killer Horror: I quite like the idea of Marianne possessing one of the women and using them to kill regular people around town
Paranormal Horror: You can never go wrong with adding vampires! I say this a lot but it's always true. I think it would also be really fun to have Marianne forced to team up with Emma or Aurore to combat a bigger supernatural threat to Elden - Marianne strikes me as someone who would be very insistent that only she gets to be terrible to Elden's residents.
Violent Horror: I don't have super specific prompts for this one! Marianne likes to stab people, Marianne should get to stab more people.
General: Oh man, this weird little show. I wrote a huge amount here about it (full of spoilers!), and there were a lot of things I wish it had done differently but it also gave me so many fascinating building blocks. I was not wholly sold on the supernatural aspects of it, so this canon especially I would love to see some kind of supernatural AU - Changeling: The Lost, Vampire: The Requiem, ghosts-instead-of-angels to see what other supernatural things would look like with these characters and their pasts.
Fandom-specific DNW: Permanent death of Sylvia or Graves. Anyone else, including other requested characters, is fair game (temporary death for Sylvia or Graves, in e.g. a time loop context, is fine).
Medium: Fic not emphasising sexual content.
Requested Ships/Characters:
Body Horror: Lots and lots of eye horror possibilities here! Also anything with Tilly gaining wings, or Sylvia trying to forcibly give her wings, or Trudy trying to remove her wings - leaning into the horror of change, the blood and the breaking bones, along the way. Any of the cult crawling out of their graves changed physically in some way.
Cosmic Horror: One of the things that I think the ending did do well was make clear just how unprepared (some of) the cult were to face something that was vast and supernatural and real - the dawning awareness that what's facing them is much much bigger than what they were expecting (especially since they, as a group of four, were almost claustrophobically close pre-summoning). I'd love something that leans into that, maybe something that contrasts it with how someone more well-adjusted to their place in things like Graves might react.
Folk Horror: The whole setup is here! One of the things I really wished for more of in the show was a sense that the landscape (and to some extent the house) mattered, and I'd love something that explores that - more about Blaidd Caregg, more about the ways the cult interacts with the land, with Graves and Trudy's respective attachments to/disaffection with Penllynith. One of the big questions the show asks is, 'How do you return to a home someone stole you from in order to 'rescue' you?' and wow is folk horror uniquely equipped to answer it! It sort of gestures at a couple of answers for Tilly, but I'd love to see it explored with anyone else instead/in addition.
Killer Horror: Chases through the woods, other rituals the cult has tried, what Tilly actually did when she was possessed.
Paranormal Horror: Is the show already sort of paranormal horror? Yeah. Did it commit to being paranormal horror with the same bonkers amount of sincerity I love in ghost stories? Not really! So really this request is make it more paranormal. Ghosts instead of angels. Changelings instead of angels. Weird dreamsharing that bleeds into reality.
Psychological Horror: I think this would be really fun to explore with Verity, because she has the psych background and she is really not above using it to further the cult's goals. Or, flip it around: the horror of Sylvia recruiting her friends, and getting them way in over their heads? Graves' journey to believing - despite herself - that something supernatural really is happening?
Violent Horror: Take this request as permission to lean heavily into the gore aspects of any other horror type - I don't really have anything specific for it, but I'd love to see if you do!
General: Clockwork Fairyland! What is there not to love? This weird little book snuck into my life and ruined me in the best way possible and I would love to be further ruined by any fic you write! I really, really loved the Changeling!Cathy faux-reveal and was a bit put out by its last-chapter reversal (all books can do with more weird changelings, lbr), so any Changeling!Cathy fic - or fic where she's human but grappling with the fact that she enjoyed elements of the time when she thought she was a soulless creature - is always adored. While I've requested a bunch of solo characters in the interest of giving you as much freedom as possible, I am happy with any femslash ships your heart desires.
Medium: Fic not emphasising sexual content, fic emphasising sexual content.
Requested Ships/Characters:
Body Horror: I would be delighted by either body horror that leans into the clockwork/steampunk side of things or body horror that leans into the animal/nature side. Living tattoos, needleplay and wound fingering during sex, anything about the creation of changelings or interactions between changelings and the people they replace.
Dark Fantasy: This is probably fairly close to canon tone - I'd love something post-canon, exploring Cathy & Laon's lives in Pivot
Folk Horror: Arcadian cults! Mab isn't the only queen, and who knows what Cathy and Laon might stumble into if they leave her city (or get kicked out?). Or just canon-but-a-different-setting - listen, I do quite love Laon, but in terms of people who would end up in a giant Wicker Man? Yeah, he'd end up there, and I'd delight in reading Cathy's attempts to save him or how she helps Mab put him there equally.
Gothic Horror: Is this where I mention how much I'd love creepy Fae arranged marriages? For any combination of my requested characters. Arcadia has plently big crumbling houses with secrets, and add in marriages and forced companionship and it's even more perfect.
Killer Horror: I LOVED the Hunt, and would love to see more of it/them - a Hunt that finds its targets already killed by something else, maybe? Ariel come back to life and looking for revenge?
Paranormal Horror: Ghosts! Do ghosts exist in Arcadia? Can changelings become ghosts? I would love Ariel haunting Cathy or Mab, or Mab giving Cathy and Laon a place to stay that's filled with ghosts. This would also be a really fun way to play with Kasdaye's fortune telling - things she's spoken into existence, things that don't really exist that hover at the edges of her awareness...
Psychological Horror: Well, Mab is pretty much the definition of this! Any of her manipulating Cathy or Ariel, whether that's controlling Cathy in Pivot post-canon or calling Ariel back from the mortal world pre-canon. Also, again, really great for Kasdaye and creepy dreams.
Survival Horror: Again, anything from the Hunt(s) - Ariel's perspective, maybe, or an original target in a Hunt Mab manipulates Cathy into leading. Or, Cathy stranded somewhere in Arcadia trying to make her way back to the questionable safety of Pivot or Gethsemane.
General: I have a deep love for half-dead half-forest women and this show has truly left me spoiled for choice amongst them! Sad cops? Tired medical examiners? Girls with disturbing archery skills? Old bartenders possibly as old as time itself? I love them all! Gimme creepy things in the forest and came-back-wrong people trying and failing to continue on. For this fandom specifically, I would be super into time loops, especially with forest-assisted suicide as a loop trigger.
Medium: Art not emphasising sexual content, fic not emphasising sexual content, fic emphasising sexual content.
Requested Ships/Characters:
Body Horror: I am a simple creature who wants stories and/or art of people merging with trees! Laurène getting botanical replacements for her missing fingers. Camille or Marion returning part dead girl/part plant from their graves - or, in Camille's case, part crow, if the crows claim her after she dies and send her back into the world to return.
Cosmic Horror: Celtic gods in a French forest have got to have some reality-breaking effects, y/y? And the Children of Arduinna are a cult already. Portals in the forest/under the river. Sabine as an eldritch horror with her own agenda for Villefranche.
Folk Horror: Look, Sirani got off easily, in terms of how quickly and relatively uncomplicatedly he was accepted by the town, so: have terrible things happen to him instead, Wicker Man-style or otherwise. Villefranche basically rejected him in the first episode and he stayed anyway, so something about how the town (perhaps acting though Laurene or Mayor!Lea) chooses people who are 'allowed' to stay?
Killer Horror: I would especially like versions of this with Cora or Laurène as the killer - Cora trying to keep the forest safe, Laurène looking for meaning in her life - but really you can't go wrong with anyone! Sabine using the fact that she knows everyone to choose her targets, Camille or Marion looking for revenge ... lots of opportunity for gorgeous chase scenes through the forest and all sorts of chances for Villefranche to help or hinder killer or targets *hearteyes*
Paranormal Horror: Camille or Marion as ghosts, or Leïla as a vampire, or anything specific to French or Breton mythology. There's also loads of room to play around with nature spirits, either one of the canon characters actually being some kind of spirit, or the characters meeting one. Any type of not-human creature that comes back to take Camille or Marion's place.
Psychological Horror: I don't have specific prompts for this horror type - it seems like a really great place to pair a dead character + a living one, though.
Survival Horror: I would love stories of other peoples' All Nighters, and how they prepare for them.
I love all these canons for the worldbuilding and mytharcs as well as their characters and relationships, and I am easy to please as long as you stay away from my DNWs (both general and canon-specific), so don't feel like you Have to write any of my specific prompts.
- Marianne
- Marianne/Creator's Choice of Female Character
- Graves & Sylvia Walsh
- Matilda Gray/Sylvia Walsh
- Stephen Kendrick & Lloyd Satlow & Verity Satlow & Sylvia Walsh (Note: I requested this as one big '&' relationship because I don't want Lloyd/Verity shipfic with Stephen and Sylvia as afterthoughts, but you don't have to pretend they're not married or anything)
- Trudy Franken/Matilda Gray
- Graves
- Sylvia Walsh
- Ariel Davenport
- Catherine Helstone
- Kasdaye
- Mab | The Pale Queen
- Camille Laugier/Laurène Weiss
- Camille Laugier/Marion Steiner
- Marion Steiner/Cora Weiss
- Marion Steiner/Laurène Weiss
- Leïla Barami & or / Laurène Weiss
- Sabine Hennequin & Laurène Weiss
- Camille Laugier
- Laurène Weiss
- Sabine Hennequin
