4th is My Game - the first one I played and the one I prefer to play/run when possible, and if I'm just playing around with chargen in my spare time it's always with reference to 4th - but I can play and enjoy things about 3.5 and 5 (5's main selling point is it's ease for new players imo, but mechanically it bores me and setting/lorebook-wise it ... oh, lbr, it also bores me. 3.5 was Wild in a delightful way but could get overwhelming).

Your eladrin sounds like a lot of fun! 10 years, gosh. I'd love to hear more about them sometime!
