it's kalinda sharma deserved better day
I mean, literally every day is Kalida Sharma Deserved Better Day but today is also [a] a Thursday, which is (my reading list informs me) rec things day, and [b] a day when I actually have the brain + time for a reclist. So. Mostly femslash. A fair amount of Kalinda/Lana, because goddamn does Lana also deserve better, but not entirely. Not in any real order.

The summary says "Set post 6x09", but, really, it's a story about their entire relationship, in flashbacks - the way coming together means something different every time, how Kalinda starts to believe she was telling the truth when she said I take you seriously, and how they prove to each other that the future exists.

Lana, on Kalinda, appearances, and reality. A really interesting look at how Lana always saw more than Kalinda strictly meant to show her, but never found the will to use it against her.

Weird domesticity and genuine affection set against a whole lot of politics, and one of my favourite examples of the sort of - comfort that's doesn't permanently fix things but that matters and is important.

"Maybe we should just leave, Kalinda."
For a moment the idea hangs in the air, absurd, but then Kalinda starts to wonder if Lana might be right. Chicago has dragged her down for years. Chicago is a place of death and cracks that can’t seem to be patched up. She shrugs her free shoulder. “We could.”

It kills time, leaving a question in the air. At least it helps Lana stop thinking about what a waste of it Kalinda's relatively irregular middle-of-the-night appearances on Lana's floor at the FBI are.
