From one mod to another, I'm very disappointed you've chosen to insist that the ban was not about tagging, when the question being asked is 'Does a fandom tag violate a character DNW?' Requested vs. non-requested was only ever a side issue.
If the answer is yes, fandom tags can violate character DNWs, make that clear. If the answer is no, make that clear as well. I strongly encourage you to reconsider your ban either way, because there have clearly been communication issues between mods and participants, and accepting that you were a part of that will go a long way towards regaining any sense of community goodwill.
None of that changes the fact that, regardless of the reasons for your edit, you specifically *removed* language supporting the banned participant, that onlookers were relying on to try to figure out wtf was going on and what they were allowed to do now that the round is over. And that is. Really unfortunate to see.

Also, uh, as someone who only has a rough sense of what even happened with the ban, the more posts the mods make in reaction to it/this drama the more questions and concerns I have. Because (while I don't need to know the details) if the mods choose to post something saying "there's a mistaken impression..." in response to stuff that, if it touched the comm itself, never did so in a way most participants would notice... uh I hope they expect more confusion and outrage to come to them in response...
