TRoS sads post

Support post for those of us who've seen & are unhappy with TRoS or who have been thoroughly spoiled & are unhappy anyway. Vents/commiserations/fix-it brainstorming/links to fave fix-its etc all welcome. Spoilers will be everywhere in comments.

Rules:

  • Be civil. Misogyny, racism, etc will all get you banned from my journal, as will anti-style conflating shipping with morality.

  • Spoiler warnings for non-movie materials (e.g. the Rise of Kylo Ren comics) are appreciated but not required. Do not be a dick if someone is less familiar with non-movie materials than you.

  • Ship-bashing and policing the ways in which other people ship something are not allowed. People will be sad for different reasons, respect that.

  • Title your threads. If you're not interested in what's happening in, say, the post-canon Finn/Poe thread, stay out of it.

  • Talking about things you liked is also fine. This post is more to give y'all a space to be upset than to 1000% doom and gloom 1000% of the time.

Anon is on & IP logging is off. I reserve the right to change both/either of those things.

After seeing the film I felt disappointed. In the two days since I've reflected on the themes, and feel thoroughly let down.
They propagate that a strong woman has to be alone, and doesn't even need to show grief about the death of someone who was not only deeply connected to her through the Force, but also sacrificed himself so she could live.
I'm angry about the fact that they backtracked and made everything about family lines. Rey only has the Force because of her granddad.
And only Force sensitives seem to have the potential to break through the FO indoctrination: Finn and Jannah, who had a "feeling" that guided them to do so.

They butchered one of my favourite characters in the saga - Leia - by showing that she had trained with Luke. And yet she couldn't be bothered to guide her own son, but was afraid of his powers and shipped him off to Luke at an early age?

How come the essence of all Jedis was with Rey, but none could be arsed to guide Ben when he craddled Rey's lifeless body?

Add the fact that all characters seemed to have regressed in their behaviour in the year since TLJ.

I think I need another glass of wine...
