jukebox reveals + recs
I don't remember now why I didn't sign up for
jukebox_fest - I think I probably forgot about either nominations or signups, though considering what my past few months have been it's probably for the best - but I did manage to slide in one treat, after asking for recs for requests with dark f/f potential (look. I have a niche.)
kiss them all goodnight. bellyache - billie eilish (song), narrator/her lover. 1k words, rated t. for
sapphire2309.
The narrator of the song is a girl who killed her friends after they robbed a bank together, and sorta-maybe feels sorry about it but also sorta-maybe doesn't care, beyond, perhaps, a vague curiosity about what she's just done. I got to have some fun with the formatting here, writing the fic as a transcript of the narrator's deposition as part of the post-canon criminal case she's at the centre of serving as a way to flip between the depths of her head and the outside world, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out.
And some recs:
between the strand and the sea. sailor and siren - kunika (song), ofc/ofc. 1.6k words, rated t. by
Scytale.
Spymaster bard/pirate queen friends-to-lovers, with some really lovely thoughts on folklore preservation.
christmas Letters from the andersons, 1971-1975. angie baby - helen reddy (song), gen. 2.4k words. by
gamerfic.
Snapshots of a family, perfectly on the line between mundane and fantastical horror.
trouble. addicted to you - avicii (music video), ofc/ofc. 1.5k words. by
thedevilchicken.
Hot joyous noir-tinged girlfriends, and what it means to be bad.
and then there were none. russian roulette - red velvet (song), gen & m/f. 1.7k words, rated t. by
Reishiin.
A dreamy sort of fairytale about what happens when the threads between murder and love are pulled apart.
gathered, buried, burnt. furnace room lullaby - neko case, gen. 1.4k words, not rated. by
Measured_Words.
What happens when you find a heart under a faerie tree and drink it down, pitch-perfect horror.

After a life at court, Lynet settles down to a life of solitude, music, and gardening. She doesn't expect an old friend to show up.

As the holiday season draws near, we especially miss our friends and family back in Council Bluffs. We wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year. Walt's transfer and our move have had their ups and downs for the family, and things haven't always turned out like we expected they would. We're all still hoping the best is yet to come!

How many ways are there for a girl to die? As many as there are stars in the sky.

Desperation is a matter of perspective.
