I had sort of a weird fannish time with Midsommar, where I saw the movie and loved it with all my heart and then was ... deeply alienated by basically everything everyone was saying about it. And then! I saw these prompts! Wanting spooky things and folk horror and the liminal spaces that dreams and reality create! And I'm so pleased I was able to write for them :3

A stem gets caught on Kylo's tongue before she can answer and she chokes, tries to swallow it down. The roots are around her lungs, somewhere so deep she can't even use the Force to dislodge them. It isn't worth trying, anyway: it hasn't worked in years.

So ... for a very long time I thought I wasn't super into hanahaki disease as a trope. And then I saw this request, with all of the possibilities for leaning into the body horror and the 'what if the love is unrequited because one person is an eldritch manifestation of the Force literally unable to love' and. Guys. I really like this particular version of the hanahaki trope, help.

And! I got two excellent gifts! LadyBrooke wrote me Queens of the East and West, a Dark Queen Galadriel AU with some excellent necromancy, and tristesses wrote me desiderate, a perfect Rey/Kylo fic with horror-of-the-Light and implied cannibalism.

General: I've read most of the novels and have seen most of Crusade and have no strong feelings either way as to whether you use information/events from them or not. Anything you want to do incorporating the First Ones/weird fey space things is extra loved. Canon-divergence AUs are great, post-series fic is great. B5 was a really stunning take on not just war stories but people-in-war stories, and I love the plotty fics with complicated characters and dynamics that it lends itself to -- angst and darkfic and cosmic horror are all more than welcome here.

If Mercy's relevant to your fic, I am happy to see dark!Mercy as well as Overwatch!Mercy. Leaning into the body horror aspects around Ana's missing eye encouraged (I have a special love for flowers growing in the empty eye socket, because, well, I'm me) but not required. Any AU based off any skins for the requested characters (e.g. witch!Mercy, pirate!Ana, comtesse!Amélie) is welcome even if I haven't specified the general version of that AU in my likes. If you want to address the age gaps here, I really love how comfortable Ana is in her own skin, with her own age (even/especially her missing eye) and how that contrasts with her mixed feelings about what she's done, so anything that highlights that would be lovely.

I'm not so much into the human-exceptionalism/campy-fun takes on the show. Canon-divergence AUs, especially Wraith Queen Teyla/Asuran Queen Elizabeth/Independent-from-Earth Atlantis ones, are love (all three in one fic or just one). Sentient Atlantis, whether as a worldbuilding detail or as a major plot point, will always make me happy. I love in-universe versions of World of Darkness AUs - what is it like to be a Kindred in the Pegasus galaxy as opposed to on Earth? - or Stargate characters in the CtL versions of Arcadia/the Hedge/etc.

General: I adore the worldbuilding madly and would love something that gets into all the Craft and glamour and politics of the world, or something with one of the fairy characters that explores their lives and relationships before Isobel started working with/for them. General: Haunted house story of my dreams! I love spooky things about the house as character, and possession, and characters slowly becoming the House/the house's allies without quite realising it. Fic that leans into the ghost/not ghost ambiguity is fantastic, especially when contrasted with how the book itself seems to be so clear-eyed about what's actually happening without ever letting us know what it sees. I ship awful dysfunctional Eleanor/Theo and (as awful as you like, as dysfunctional as you like) Theo/her friend that she was living with.

General: I love these books as a changeling story, I love them as a story of nature-as-entity, I love them as a story of how desolation is never bleak and usually alive. I would prefer you use the characters' professions to describe them (eg "the psychologist" ) in narration, rather than their names. I am fine with canon-consistent 'being eaten by Area X' for either of the requested characters but DNW them to die in any other way. The canon by nature is playing with some pretty dark questions about embodiment and environmental catastrophes and death, but there's plenty of potential for light and joy - there is plenty of light and joy for both the requested characters as they give themselves back over to Area X, so don't be afraid to lean into that. I've read all three books and my prompts do get kinda spoilery, but if you've only read Annihilation, I welcome fic based only off that. I love the journal style of Annihilation and epistolary fic is especially welcome for this fandom. Canon-compliant deathfic for any of these characters is fine.

General: This weird book about fucked-up missionary siblings in clockwork Fairyland snuck into my life and ruined me and I would love to be further ruined by any fic you write! I really, really loved the Changeling!Cathy faux-reveal and was a bit put out by its last-chapter reversal (all books can do with more weird changelings, lbr), so any Changeling!Cathy fic - or fic where she's human but grappling with the fact that she enjoyed elements of the time when she thought she was a soulless creature - is always adored. Canon-compliant deathfic for Ariel is fine - especially if it leads to Mab further manipulating/fucking with Cathy, and Cathy continuing to spiral about her identity, but I am also thrilled by any AU you come up with where she survives or is brought back. I ship any femslash as well as Cathy/Laon and Kasdaye/Penemue. Loads of ship prompts in previous requests for this book

General: This show has a thesis of 'why be a girl when you could be an eldritch horror instead' because it loves me, it really loves me. I love the bonds and the backstabbing and the love-through-horror, I love the changeling girls and the amount of respect it gives stories of self-creation. I love the contrast between the suffocating boarding-school atmosphere and the equally terrifying 'I would like to let the sky eat me' of the Rock and how that's reflected in the characters' emotional relationships. Permadeath of any of the requested characters is fine for this fandom, as is ambiguous/show-consistent explanations of what happened at the Rock. The show does so much excellent work with forests that probably want to eat you/nature which tries to eat you/nature which wants to crawl inside you and never come out and I want to see infinitely more of it!

I've by and large chosen canons I love for their worldbuilding and mytharcs as well as their characters and relationships, and I am easy to please as long as you stay away from my DNWs (both general and canon-specific), so don't feel like you Have to write any of my specific prompts. Don't read anything into relative lengths of sections, I am equally happy to get something for anything in this letter! Some of these prompts are reused from old letters, and if you have written them for me before, rest assured that I loved your fic, I am simply greedy and would like to see every possible take on my favourite scenarios.

I love everything from short introspection bits to long plotty missionfic to sex scenes as ways to explore character/setting/worldbuilding, and I don't need a lot of romance in my ships: sex for power, manipulation, or just between friends who want to have fun is also great. General: I have a slight preference for pre-canon or during-canon fic, but if you want to write post-canon, go for it! I like the ridiculousness of the group like ... re-creating Victoriana boarding school tropes at a 1980s university, and really love fics that delve into the sort of person one has to be to cultivate that sense of deliberate earnest pretentiousness. I like fics about the mundane academic and the weird mythology equally, so lean into whichever you prefer. Feel free to include the rest of the group and Julian, but I'd prefer no OT3s for the twins this time.

General: I prefer fics that don't make such a strong connection between mirrorverse sexualities and evil like the show did. I love, love, love canon-divergent AUs for DS9, especially where Bajor discovers the wormhole (and its possibilities for inter-universe travel earlier). Whether that's Kira's 'The Federation will be gone in a week and so will you' prediction coming true, or maybe Bajor has known about the mirrorverse for forever and have been getting secret help against the Cardassians from various mirrorverse factions or something else entirely, have fun with the what-ifs! I've read most of the season 8 novels, including the mirrorverse ones, and I'm overall lukewarm on them - feel free to use/ignore relevant bits as you want. I'm also kinda :/ at mirror versions of characters being killed off so frequently, it closes so many interesting storylines, so feel free to ignore any of those deaths.

Fandom-specific DNW: Prime or Mirror!Bashir, Prime!Dukat, post-series fic where prime!Bajor has joined the Federation/Kira has joined Starfleet for real (fic set when she's temporarily commissioned during s7 is okay).

General: Sith/Jedi AUs are great in any combination - I like the angst of the twins trying to reach each other across the light/dark divide, but terrifyingly competent murdertwins united on one side of the battle is also excellent. I have a slightly easier time seeing Sith!Amilyn than Jedi!Amilyn but I will read either with equal delight. Force-sensitive Amilyn is amazing always, but just vaguely-witchy Amilyn is also great. AUs with Dark Empress/Sith Lord Padmé at Palpatine's right hand instead of Anakin, or where she lives to found the Rebllion (and exploring what that means for the twins) are always gleefully accepted. General: Oh hey this weird book about fucked-up missionary siblings in clockwork Fairyland snuck into my life and ruined me and I would love to be further ruined by any fic you write! I really, really loved the Changeling!Cathy faux-reveal and was a bit put out by its last-chapter reversal (all books can do with more weird changelings, lbr), so any Changeling!Cathy fic - or fic where she's human but grappling with the fact that she enjoyed elements of the time when she thought she was a soulless creature - is always adored. Canon-compliant deathfic for Ariel is fine - especially if it leads to Mab further manipulating/fucking with Cathy, and Cathy continuing to spiral about her identity, but I am also thrilled by any AU you come up with where she survives or is brought back.
